Welcome to ABC Dentistry, specialising in Children’s Dentistry since 2003
ABC Dentistry is a specialist paediatric dental practice located in Buderim, in the heart of the Sunshine Coast. We provide specialist paediatric dental care for children of all ages and adults with special needs. The children’s dental center was established in 2003, and provides dental care for children with an emphasis on preventing disease.
Our pediatric dental care specialists pride themselves on providing affordable kids dental treatments, in an easy-going, friendly environment. You do not need a referral to be seen in our children’s dental center.
We prefer to see children from birth, providing the most valuable preventive dental care information for kids, directly to our young patients to prevent disease. It is shocking to think that half of the six year old’s in Queensland have tooth decay, a statistic our child dentists are eager to change with preventive kids dental based care.

The child dental practice has been designed to ensure that your child’s experience is the best it could possibly be. The practice is bright and colourful, with plenty of toys and activities to keep children of all age busy while they are waiting. In the surgery, we have ceiling mounted screens and blue tooth headphones, which help your child forget where they are while they are having treatment. Our kids dentists enjoy treating children, and seeing their happy faces once they have completed their care.
Our kids dentists are able to offer general preventive care, treatment by referral, orthodontic extractions, happy gas, and treatment under general anaesthetic. Our child dental specialists use the Sunshine Coast Private Hospital for all of our general anaesthetics, the best equipped private hospital in the area so your child is in good hands.

The Children’s Dental Benefit Scheme
Help for Families
From January 2014 the Federal Government will be introducing a benefit to families who meet the requirements of family tax benefit A. Each child between the ages of 2 and 17 will receive a benefit of $700 to be used in a dental practice for essential child dental care. The Medicare system will control the benefit amount payable on each item number. The program means that children can start accessing dental care for children from an early age. In our practice there will be a small out of pocket payment for services provided. Getting good quality dental care is now simplified. The scheme has limitations on item numbers that can be used, and time frames for that use.
Why Start Early
You may wonder why the pediatric dentist would need to see your child before they have many teeth. The reasons for this are that some of the main things that influence your child’s risk of developing tooth decay are not related to their teeth. How your child feeds, your oral health, their diet, how you clean their teeth and what you use to clean them are just a few of the things that need to be assessed to understand whether or not they may be at risk of developing decay.
Tooth decay does not result solely from bad diet, as many people think. Tooth decay is the result of a poor oral environment. Many factors influence that environment. We are here to help you understand how to prevent that bad environment from being established, or where decay exists, help you manage it for the future. Every child is an individual, and within your family each child may have a separate risk of developing tooth decay.

Our dental clinic for kids has been selected to be a member of the smile.com.au dental plan provider scheme. As a provider, people who join the smile.com.au dental plan, or those who are members of Defence Health, Australian Unity and People Care, automatically receive reduced fees with our practice. There are set fees for several item numbers but a guaranteed reduction of 15% off our regular fees. For further information please don’t hesitate to contact smile.com.au for more information. Dental plans can be used alone or in combination with private health insurance from any provider, or the Children’s Dental Benefit Scheme.
